Welcome to Chew on Lou!

Welcome to Chew on Lou, the newest Louisville food blog. Future posts will be entirely food-centric, but I wanted to take some time to explain who I am and what you can expect from Chew on Lou.

Who am I?

My name is Amanda and I’m a recent Louisville transplant. I hail from Michigan, but have spent the past four years living and eating my way around the world.

I’m a freelance writer and digital marketer with a passion for both food and words. I love spicy food, fry ups, IPAs, and soft cheeses. I don’t like corn or picky eaters.

You can read more about me here, or read about my past travels at Farsickness.

Why am I starting Chew on Lou?

You might be thinking, “Ugh, another one?!” And, yes, I am starting yet another food blog.

Why? I love having a creative outlet. I ran my travel blog for years, but now that I’m settled I decided I needed a new project. Food is my biggest passion and I’ve been writing about it for a while, so this seemed natural.

Louisville already has some great food blogs, but I feel that Chew on Lou can bring a new perspective and fill the “not solely restaurant reviews, kind of long form, and a little bit personal” void.

(This is a void that needs to be filled. Trust me.)

What can I expect from Chew on Lou?

Well, first and foremost, a lot of food. Since, you know, this is a food blog. Don’t expect recipes, though. Chew on Lou is only an account of what I eat when I’m not at home.

I’ll have roundups of Louisville’s best eateries and features on some of my favorite places. I’m going to have a series focusing on ethnic places around town and neighborhood guides. I plan on posting a monthly roundup of fun foodie events.

There’s also going to be plenty of coverage of the Louisville beer scene. And maybe even some coffee and cocktails, too.

You might also see some “outside of Lou” pieces about food in other southern cities, because even though I’m settled now, I still can’t stay in one place for too long.

Let me know what you want!

A food blog is nothing without its readers. Do you want to see a certain place covered on the blog? Do you have a food related event you want to be listed in my monthly roundup? Are you certain you know the best place in town for something? Contact me and let me know!

Until next time- happy eating, Louisvillians!
